Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors / Snippet Sunday!

Continuing on where we left off last week with my new asylum story,  she was introducing herself to Cartwright. The last lines were:
“I’m Dr. Huxley.”
Cartwright grinned and lifted his arm in effort to show he couldn’t shake hands, purposely rattling the chains as loud as he could. 
“Right.” I said pulling my hand away. 

He stopped clanking and shook his head, “You can’t be Huxley. Huxley’s the big head honcho upstairs that runs this fine establishment. Gives all the orders, but lets everyone else do the dirty laundry.”
“I’m Dr. Sarah Huxley, his daughter.”
“Dr. Huxley…that’s too confusing…I’ll call you Dr. Hux.”
“Sure, whatever.” I said, fully aware that he could be trying to get a rise out of me. 
“You’re quite sassy for a psychologist, Hux.”
“Psychiatrist. I didn’t go to school for twelve years to be anything less than a doctor.”

And a little more because that was so short…

“My apologies…Doc. I didn’t know they made new psychiatrists with so much sass.”
“They don’t, I’ve just always been. You can take the girl out of New York City, but you can’t take New York City out of the girl.”
“I could certainly give that a try.” He said with a grin, licking his lips, “All I need is five minutes to get it in you and I’ll tear that sass right out of you in the end.”
I wasn’t sure if he was making reference to a knife or a certain part of his anatomy, or both. I ignored him and flipped pages in my notebook, casually adjusting the scarf around my neck to cover any cleavage that could be showing. He watched in silence.

I apologize for not making the rounds or replying back to comments, this week has been crazy with the end of the school year. I’m done after this coming week and then freedom!
